Company Description
PaintCare is the nonprofit organization that plans and operates paint stewardship programs in states that pass the paint stewardship law. PaintCare was created by the paint industry through the American Coatings Association (ACA) to manage leftover paint in these states, referred to as “PaintCare states.” PaintCare currently operates 11 programs in California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Maine, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. Two additional programs are currently being planned in Illinois and Maryland.
PaintCare organizes convenient drop-off sites open year round where households and businesses are encouraged to bring leftover house paint, stain, and varnish for recycling. PaintCare helps ensure the “highest, best use” for paint collected in the program, including giving away good quality material as-is, putting it to another beneficial use, or recycling it. Through its approximately 2,500 drop-off sites, PaintCare has collected 77 million gallons of leftover paint across all programs. To find a drop-off location near you, use our online site locator.
